David Schaumann

Born in Germany in 1982, I received a formative education at the Free Waldorf School, which shaped my values and perspective on sustainable business practices. I later specialized in biodynamic agriculture and expanded my expertise as an agricultural business economist.

My first entrepreneurial experience was founding an organic poultry farm that produced nearly 100,000 chickens annually, distributed nationwide in Germany. In 2013, my journey took me to China, where I became a partner at CHEERS Wines, helping grow the wine retail chain to 70 stores across 15 cities in a highly dynamic and competitive market.

These experiences honed my strategic skills and ignited my passion for innovative, future-oriented projects.

Why the Water Mill Foundation?

A serious accident in 2021 and the restrictive Covid measures in China forced me to take a step back from daily life. This period allowed me to discover Bitcoin and become deeply inspired by the vision of a global, independent value system.

The Water Mill Foundation combines economic stability with community engagement. It integrates a Bitcoin-based bank, a renewable energy-powered Bitcoin mining operation, and a vibrant space for connection. Through its educational and cultural Forum, welcoming hospitality (Mill.Life), and sustainable food production (Essence.Work), it creates a place for like-minded individuals to work together toward a resilient, cooperative future.

With this holistic approach, the Foundation becomes a model of how politics, economy, and culture can harmonize and thrive together.

My Role

As the founder and chairman of the Water Mill Foundation, my focus is on bringing this visionary idea to life with the help of dedicated individuals and supporters. My responsibilities include establishing the foundation's framework, launching the renewable energy-powered Bitcoin mining operation, and securing a banking license.

I aim to build a vibrant community of like-minded individuals who not only utilize the foundation's potential but actively contribute to its growth. With a clear vision and a strong foundation of innovation, stability, and collaboration, I strive to position the Water Mill Foundation as a pioneering example of a forward-thinking society.
